Co Op Dairy

A Memory of Greenford.

I grew up at 120, Costons Lane, next to the Co-Op Dairy. I remember they still had horses pulling the carts until conversion to hand-pulled electric Milk Floats in the 50's. I went to Oldfield Infants, taken on the 92 Bus. I remember the Headmistress, Miss Mackintosh: teachers Mrs. Crumpsall and Miss Keightly ( who seemed about 75!)
In 1947, I went to Coston's Junior Boys when Mr. Blount was Head. First year was Mrs. Reeves, then Mr. Winston and 3rd & 4th years Mr.Dunne. Mr. Kettle was Head in my last year (52-53). I passed the 11+ and went on to St. Clement Danes GS in Hammersmith, so I lost touch with the children I knew in Junior School.
From Danes I went on to Manchester University, and after graduating, I stayed in Manchester, and now live in Altrincham, Cheshire
