More about this scene
Other less literate residents of Grantchester are also remembered. Edward Wright, the village baker, gave his name to this row of cottages in the High Street. His house and the bakery, second from left, are thought to be more than 300 years old. The Cambridge Cottage Improvement Society bought them in 1938 for £150, and with a grant, Wrights Row was repaired and modernised. This scene has not changed at all in the past 45 years.
