More about this scene
A little way back from Freshwater Bay is the former home of the poet Tennyson, who loved the place but hated the constant procession of visitors. The high cliffs and startling rock formations - perhaps the most dramatic scenery on the Isle of Wight after The Needles - brings visitors back again and again.
