More about this scene
In the year of Queen Victoria's passing, these fashionably-clad Edwardians take the air along the mile-long greensward of The Leas on top of the cliff, and against the backdrop of these smart Victorian villas. Charles Dickens had earlier taken similar constitutional walks along this route while writing the opening chapters of 'Little Dorrit' in 1855.
