More about this scene
The following year, Hertford was back in Scotland, burning five market towns, sacking 243 villages, and laying waste to crops. Edward VI of England was destined not marry the Queen of Scots. He died in 1553 and was succeeded by his Catholic sister. The young Scottish queen was married to Francois, Dauphin of France, an act that was to establish the Auld Alliance. The marriage lasted two years. By 1560 Francois too was dead, and Mary had returned to Scotland.
