More about this scene
Edgbaston is the most famous of all Birmingham’s suburbs. It was the home of the Chamberlain family, who had an impact on both the development of Birmingham and the history of Britain; the headquarters of Warwickshire County Cricket Club; and the site of the Botanical Gardens. In 1949 the shops along Hagley Road were all taken. Booksellers and stationers T W Atkinson even operated a library from which books could be loaned at 2d a time.
