More about this scene
The Wish Tower, in the distance on the left, was built as a Martello Tower, one of over one hundred round-tow- ered fortlets built along the south coast during the Napoleonic Wars. Named after an admired fortlet in Corsica at Mortella, this one, Number 73, is one of eleven surviving in Sussex.
