Les Wilde Dancing Lessons

A Memory of Ealing.

Yes Yes Yes!!! I remember Les Wilde. My mum and dad used to go there every Wednesday evening. and my brother and I were sent along there for the childrens dance classes, I think on a Thursday evening. I remember the hall above the, was it a billiard hall? and the tiny little curtained booth where they put on the records, and the kitchen that smelled of gas where you could buy a watery orange juice and a club biscuit! I spent a lot of time at Les Wilde dance studios. My parents were good friends of both Les and his wife, whose name I forget. A lovely lady. When I was thirteen, I would sometimes accompany my parents on a Wednesday evening - but only because I could sit in his newly made bar and nurse a coca cola, which seemed to me at the age of thirteen the height of sophistication. My brother and I both took up to our first Gold Bar medal exams with Les Wilde. what innocence, what fun we all used to have at those childrens lessons.....anybody else remember that time? If so, anybody remember Gillian and Christopher, Elaine, Rita, Patrick ( I think from Neasdon?)

Yes, I remember Les very well, he was my teacher, I had private lessons for years, I went all the way to Sixth Bar, and I think it was called Annual Award, I used to go Saturdays, and few nights in the week, Latin American and ballroom. I will never forget the Saturday night dance and winning award for best dancer, I was so young and just loved it. My name is Mandy Pinder back then, must of been between 1970 to 1975 maybe 1976, I used to get the 65 bus from south Ealing to the broadway. Some of the best days of my life. I hope you get to seeing this post I have put on here, who knows we might know each other.
Yes I went to the Les Wilde school of dancing. That would have been in the mid sixties.
I a!so went to June Carlyle's classes at Ealing Common in 1961.She was taught by my next door neighbour of that time, Joan Appleton.Does anyone remember them?

You just brought back some memories in 1976/1977 I left there I really regret that . I remember Les Wilde too. I lived in Acton I used to go on Saturdays then Fridays with like only about 12 of us . I did the jive on the presentation night and won a trophy that you could only keep for a year . Wish we could post this on Facebook so we could all share photos . I am sure I was the only deaf girl .
