More about this scene
This busy High Street scene shows many well known shop names. The Home and Colonial (right) was a popular grocery store. Boots advertises its developing and printing service (left), and Stead and Simpson, the shoe store, is next door. Most shops still have awnings, ready to pull down if the sun gets strong. Leons Café, in the distance on the right, offers luncheons and teas.
