Judge Jeffreys lodged in this Dorchester house in the aftermath of the Monmouth Rebellion in 1685; he sentenced some 300 rebels to death, though many were transported instead. To the right are Groves County Clothing and Outfitting Store and the shop of P B Whittingham.
