More about this scene

Many a stranded traveller has had cause to thank The Warren House Inn at Postbridge. It sits high on Dartmoor, alongside the Moretonhampstead to Princetown road, near where the East Dart river rises. The bleak moorland road to Moretonhampstead stretches out into the distance.

Memories of Dartmoor, the Warren House Inn 1931

For many years now, we've been inviting visitors to our website to add their own memories to share their experiences of life as it was, prompted by the photographs in our archive. These memories are of Dartmoor, The Warren House Inn 1931

Sparked a Memory for you?

If this has sparked a memory, why not share it here?

In the 1960s I took my parents to stay in a bungalow a short distance from the Warren House Inn. The bungalow was called The King's Oven, and we rented it for a week. It had been used as accomodation for the tin mine inspector when he visited the area. Sadly, it has since been demolished, but I can still discern where it used to be. While we were there, my father used to like to stroll up the road to the Warren House Inn for a drink.
