Conistone, With Kilnsey 1953

More about this scene
The limestone village of Conistone in Wharfedale is more correctly known as Conistone-with-Kilnsey, with its twin hamlet sheltering under the impressive overhang of Kilnsey Crag across the river. Conistone clusters around its village green, and is still just as dependent on farming as when this photograph, complete with ewes and new-born lambs in the foreground, was taken.
