hi I remember your family I used to visit with your great aunt Ellen laughran they were a nice family.Margaret
They lived in 33 laurelbank Sonny as I knew him had'ent worked for a few years and had a heart attack riding Carol's bike going up Burnbank heading for glenmavis on the first day of his new job as a nipper (Making tea) on a building site. Anne Phee's father was Peter and her mother's name was Margaret McMullen they lived in 31 laurelbank. There was another aunt lived across the road in 22 laurelbank Her name was Betty she was married to Terry McCluskey They had 3 boys Frances, Danny and Terry, I believe Danny and Terry have died, Francy lives in Perth Australia
Forgot to mention old Dan Mc Mullen he was your great grandfather the father of Margaret, Annie and Betty he lived with Margaret and Peter at 31 Laurelbank and died approx. 1955-57. You also have relations that used to live in Townhead called Cairns, I went to school with one of them Danny Cairns who used to ride his bike from Townhead to St Patricks wee school in kildornan st , One morning approx. 1957 he was riding up main st and his front wheel caught in the disused tram lines and Danny fell off and was killed (Trams ended in 1955 but the tram lines were still there for a few years after they stopped)
aww its good to hear that someone actually knows my mums family, my mum died 8 years ago she was only 45, and i didnt know much about her past except my uncle danny and anne phee and that my gran and grandas name was patrick and annie, she didnt even have anypictures of her at school or growing up, i have tried looking for photos but cant find any,
Danny was married to an English girl she was a nurse, her name was Rena, they broke up and the last I heard he was living in Bellshill area with a bus conductress I only ever spoke to her once in the railway club on Sunnyside road, Rena went back to her home town think it may have been Leeds, Rena had a sister I don't know her first name she was married to Francis Burns and they lived in Ellismuir st , Also Anne phee had a brother called Peter, Don't want to go into details for everybody to see but was in prison when I left to come to Australia in 1980
what my uncle danny my mums brother was married to a nurse. i have never heard of any they people. if it is my uncle danny youre talking about he did move to bellshill and he married a women called betty, had a few kids, bonnie, jillian sandra
Thats the same Danny I knew him well we used to play over at the slaggie that was a good past time for us kids, He would be about 70-71 now Never knew about the kids, He broke up with Rena in the 70s and later took up with that woman Don't know if it's still the same woman were talking about. Sonny (Patrick) worked in the cement plant for years, I don't know if it was ill health or not but he stopped working for a long time before he took the job in Glenmavis and had a heart attack on your mum's bike peddling up the hill at the end of Burnbank
he died of a brain tumour when i was a wee girl, but still remember him, aye my unvle danny had been with her all the years, well except that rena women, would you know anybody that would have any pics of my mum or my uncle danny, even my dran and granda, i post a pic if you wanted to see.
why do yous call him sunny lol, is that his nickname
Sonny was the only name we ever new him as, I used to wonder why he had P. Laughlan on his door and not S, but now I know That's the first time I ever heard that name. I used to have photo's of Rena and Danny down at Saltcoats, My brother Tommy used to run around with them, I don't know if I still have them they may have been lost over the years, couldent tell you the last time I saw them, Next time I phone my brother I'll ask him if he has any, He lives in Old Monkland. I would love to see any pictures that you have.
thank you, have you ever heard of a colin laughran,
Last night lying in bed I remembered why Sonny left the cement plant, His brother was a foreman with Thom the painters and went to work with him as a foreman working with rough painters working at hights painting the steel structures inside buildings, No I havent heard of Colin, But there was a
Joe (Jody) Laughlan that I went to school with and he also worked with Thom the painter, So I presumed it was Sonny's brother's lad, They lived in the Coats street area, We have a deleted message on here are you pulling the memory or did you press the wrong button. Bill
If you still read these Colin you were asking for is looking for you Bill
