Hiltingbury Road leads from Winchester Road to Hiltingbury Common, which during the Second World War and for some time after was covered with huts and used for various purposes - British troops, American troops, prisoners of war and eventually homes for Poles who had escaped to England, and who are now absorbed into the Eastleigh community.
