More about this scene
This large and imposing building complete with clock tower, built in something of a Victorian neo-Gothic style, was home to the Town Council and associated bodies. It is still the age of the horse, though none can be seen - the roadway immediately in the foreground appears to need some attention. It is interesting to note that the blinds of the shops on the left are of the old-fashioned type which needed metal supports.
