This is the main automotive route north from the city centre yet pedestrians appear happy to saunter UP the road rather than across it! The sunken car park (left) and the railings (right) provide a visible clue to the course of the old canal tunnel. The imposing Prudential Building (right) had amongst its varied occupants manufacturers and fitters of artificial limbs - demand sadly increased by recent wars.
