More about this scene
Here we see the Pierhead Building, the head offices of the Bute Docks Company, later to be known as the Cardiff Railway Company. It was designed in the Victorian Gothic style by William Frame, assistant to the Marquis of Bute's architect, the inspired William Burges. But the railway line itself, the Taff Vale Railway, was planned by Brunel, who was inspired by the innovative Cornishman, Richard Trevithick.
