More about this scene
These Grade II* listed almshouses at Nos 10-13 Kingsbury Street stand opposite the south entrance to St Mary's. They were erected by Dr John Tounson, vicar of Bremhill, in 1682. Originally built as eight houses in 'limewashed limestone rubble with ashlar ridge stone mullioned windows', in what Pevsner refers to as 'the local vernacular style', they were later converted into four larger units in the 1960s. The paired central heavy three-plank doors have strap hinges with fleur de lys ends. The grille- covered peep-holes are unusual.
