More about this scene
We are looking towards the cross and what was to become in 1968 a redeveloped town centre with new shops, flats and offices. The area has since been pedestrianised with raised flowerbeds and seating. It has been suggested that the name Caldicot comes from `cold cot`, a rough shelter for travellers who found themselves between towns at nightfall.
