More about this scene
The hounds cluster around the door of this venerable white stuccoed landmark, which has been an inn since 1388. The riders take their leave of the supporters and prepare to set off for a day's hard riding across the surrounding countryside - not in pursuit of a deer, such as that depicted on the inn sign, but of the common fox.
