More about this scene
On the west bank of the Taw, this view shows the old road (left), and new one (right). The houses to the right are Ladysmith Villas, named after the second Boer War siege (1900). They still stand. Despite additional building and road widening, this scene is still easily recognisable, although a walk down the centre of the road (as the two men are doing) is not advisable.
