This shows the view looking back down High Street towards Boutport Street at the bottom. Butchers Row is on the left. The Sydney Harper building is now a travel agent. Note that next door is another tradesman called Prideaux. French-derived names are common in North Devon; there was an influx of Huguenots from France in 1685 when they were being persecuted.
