More about this scene
Arnside Tower is a large, ruinous pele tower built during the 15th century as a protection against marauding Scots. It was badly damaged by fire in 1602, but still watches over the Kent Estuary beneath the limestone mass of Arnside Knott, seen here rising to the left of the picture.
