More about this scene
Red Rice House was built about 1844 and was restored in 1933 when two gate-houses were added. It replaced an earlier brick house of about 1740. The trees are said to have been laid out to show the disposition of troops at the Duke of Marlborough's victory at Malplaquet in 1709. The picture shows the property in its present use as a private school for boys and girls.
