More about this scene
The Church Square at Ampthill, including the almshouses, is part of the second largest Conservation Area in Bedfordshire. Very little has changed visually to St Andrew's church and the almshouses for many centuries, apart from upgraded lighting and the ramifications of normal maintenance. Some of the almshouses date back to the 15th century and a recent programme of refurbishment and modernisation has been carried out to make them more comfortable for the residents.
