Summerhill Memory Request

A Memory of Summerhill.

I was born in Summerhill in 1960 close to the chapel on Top Road, there were miner's houses in rows, all later demolished. Has anyone got any memories or photographs of any era of Summerhill history. I have lived in the area all my life and still use the King William as my local pub. Anyone know the pubs on Top Road?

Hi wonder if you could help I am researching my ancestors in the late 1850s 1860s
I too am interested in ancestors. I remember visiting as a small child in the 1950s. We visited two cottages on a steep bank with a widow in each : Lena and Lal. They were relatives but up until now Lal, once married to Fred Jones , is a bit of a mystery.
The steep back garden was overrun by strawberries and the loo was at the front of the stone floored cottages right up by the street wall.
My family where from Armoury House in Top Rd Summerhill CHALLONER Surname they owned 4 cottages in top road Mount View all deceased now, any info on Armoury House please
