Upton Lea Post Office

A Memory of Slough.

This was our local post office; these shops were a meeting place years ago and everybody new each other then. The shops at Upton Lea then, were very clean outside. On the corner we caught the old buses, jump on & off to Slough.

At one time I lived in estate there and frequented both the post office, and the other shops in the group - especially the fish and chip shop which was located at the other end of that small group of shops. It was situated on one corner of Wexham Road and was very convenient. There was also a group of shops on Wexham Road itself (nearly opposite). My dad bought a second-hand VW in one of those 'shops' around 1962.
For those who don't know - the two cars shown in the photograph are :- The rear of a Vauxhall Victor about 1961 and a soft top Triumph Herald.
