More about this scene
Unfortunately St Paul's Church was demolished in 1969 (just over 100 years after it had been built). Nikolaus Pevsner said of its demolition that Runcorn had thereby 'lost its one distinctive building'. Incidentally, the church was renowned for its acoustics and was used for many concerts - Kathleen Ferrier once sang here during the Second World War.
