More about this scene
This fine public park in the heart of Neath was opened in 1897. With its bandstand and colourful carpet bedding, it soon became a popular place where Victorian workers could enjoy an hour or two off from the daily grind. The town has a long industrial background: it was once a centre for the production of copper—South Wales's first smelter was built here in 1584.
