Lynette Carter (nee) Evans I was born in Glossip Terrace Hospital Splott Cardiff. My family and I first moved to Heol Cynllan Road, Llanharan when I was just over 2 years old. We lived with my Aunty Fanny and Uncle di. At number 1 Heol Cynllan lived my Aunty and Uncle, Gino Serenti, Ann Serenti along with my cousins Sandra, Paul and Mark Serenti. I lived at the Britannia Hotel with my mother and father, two sisters and a brother. I went to Pencoed School, married at Pencoed Church. I was one of the first members of the youth club run in the room at the back of Saleum Chapel, what a wonderful time that was. I was the first Carnival Queen after the war years,who remembers that? Who remembers the drama group we were in at the club? We won the eisteddford one year with the three act drama 'Check to the King of France'.
My sister, Joy, elder brother, Richard and myself, John Keeling, were evacuated to Llanharan in June 1940. After a short time Richard and myself were placed with a lovely old lady at 12 Seymour Avenue, Mrs Surridge. I do believe that Joy was billeted with the local Fish and Chip shop.
