More about this scene
Leasowe was built by Ferdinando, fifth Earl of Derby and Lord of Man in 1593 as a summer residence. During the English Civil War James Stanley, the seventh earl, held the Isle of Man for the King, and Leasowe suffered and fell into ruin. It was known to the locals as Mockbeggar Hall. The castle was rebuilt and the castellated front was added in 1818. Leasowe later became a convalescent home.
