Guisborough, Market Cross And Westgate c.1955

More about this scene
This photograph shows the wide expanse of Westgate, a street typical of the old market towns in the area: there was room for animals being driven to market, market stalls, and all the people who came into town from the surrounding districts on market days. The old Town Hall can just be seen in the left foreground, and the view looks towards Middlesbrough.
