What the Army did for Aldershot, the London and South Western Railway Company did for Eastleigh, helping to transform a forgotten rural backwater into a bustling and thriving town.The image of the railway town remains, though many changes have taken place here in recent years. But Eastleigh is not just about railways. Many other forms of industry are based here, including Pirelli Cables and the Mr Kipling bakery.

Help Needed
I lived in Eastleigh from about 1959 to 62 and although I was nearly 5 when we left, my earliest memories are of Eastleigh. My dad was the manager of a shoe repairers, possibly called shoecraft and we lived behind the shop. But I'd love to know where it was. It was surrounded by other shops but I think it could be one of a few streets. There was a lovely old guy called Percy who worked there, he used to call me tuppence ...see more

Butcher In Eastleigh By The Name Of Creed In The 1940s
I used to go to school with his daughter Rita Creed at Hillside School in Winchester in the late 1940s, and had to walk her each school day to Winchester Station. She lived in Archers Road Eastleigh. Thanks Peter Kitching.

David Buckland From Kestrel Road To Caustons Then Corfu
I was born in Kestrel Road in 1945 went to Chamberlin Road school then on to North end and from there got an apprenticeship at Sir Joseph Causton, Had many a memorable year working there but eventually left to work with Thomson Holidays all over the world, eventually buying a farm in Mallorca and doing Magic in the nightclubs (Something I was trained to do with Thomsons) I was ...see more

Bowling Green

Hi,I don't know if anyone can put me out of my misery, I have memories of a Bowling Green on the sight of Sainsbury, is this a figment of my imagination or was it really there,it would have been there in the seventies as we moved to Chandlers Ford around that time .Carol Sorby/Doling

Despite over 20 years’ work on the archive, these scans have still not been individually checked and may prove to be damaged, faded, or not of sufficient quality to ever be offered in our full product range. However, if you would particularly like to buy one of these please get in touch quoting the Frith negative number,(s) the town name and size of print you would like to buy. On receipt of your enquiry our archivist will check the scan and advise you if the quality is good enough.

What is an Album?

An album is a way to save a selection of Frith photos, maps and memories that are of interest to you.

Creating an Album enables you to make short lists and then make a final selection from the album. In particular it makes ordering things like calendars much easier - simply create an Album of the 12 photos you like and then use the Album when placng your order - our order process will give you this option.

You can create as many Albums as you want, so perhaps make one for your hometown, where you live now, where your parents live now etc.
