More about this scene
Shelley is a parish north of Ongar, consisting of a Victorian church, a hall, and a handful of houses and farms. The Hall was built in the 15th century. Despite a restoration in 1869, it still retains some fine Elizabethan oak carvings. This picture shows its lodge on the main Ongar-Dunmow road.
