More about this scene
This is the new St Mary's Church built in 1891 to replace the older building. Mr Barton gave the land and £1,000 towards the cost on condition that there should be no pew rents as there had been in the older church. The tower was added as a memorial to Admiral Kepple, who had lived in the village and was a church warden. There is a peal of ten bells.
