More about this scene
The Bandstand and the Refreshment Kiosk The bandstand is situated close to the refreshment kiosk (right). This small octagonal building itself has an interesting history. It was built in the GWR Works in 1914 as an advertising trade stand, and appeared in many large agricultural and other exhibitions all over the country – it was easy to erect and could be carried in a normal railway wagon. In 1942, after lying unused for years in the GWR stores, it was purchased by the Borough Council and erected in the Town Gardens as a café.
