Christmas Deliveries: If you placed an order on or before midday on Wednesday 18th December for Christmas delivery it was despatched before the Royal Mail or Parcel Force deadline and therefore should be received in time for Christmas. Orders placed after midday on Wednesday 18th December will be delivered in the New Year.

Please Note: Our offices and factory are now closed until Thursday 2nd January when we will be pleased to deal with any queries that have arisen during the holiday period.

Why are these different? All 300,000 photographs in The Frith Collection have been scanned, but as the photos were taken over a 110 year period on a wide range of glass & film negatives, using different photographic processes, every image has to be checked and optimised, before we make a print for a customer.

My Great, Great Aunt was Beatrice Spencer. She was a milliner and owned the Millinery/Hat Shop in Fore Street from the early 1900's . The shop was called Spencer's and Beatrice (Aunt Beat) lived on the premises, keeping a large dog for security! She was a remarkable woman and remained single until aged 70 when she married a gentlemen called Alfred Cross in 1941. Beatrice died in 1946. The shop remained ...see more

This memory is on behalf of a friend who was evacuated from London to Sidmouth in 1944. Her recollection is fairly vague but she was allocated to Brackendale, Ice House Lane which was owned by  Mrs Elizabeth, Henriatta Jane Perryman  (purchased in May 1934) and run by two ladies, Miss Hood and Miss Fitzgerald. Each August huge numbers of dancers and musicians head to Sidmouth for the annual folk festival - a week long event which celebrates our national heritage of music, dance and song.
