In 1901 an ancestor of mine was lodging and working as a shop assistant at a bakers and confectioners shop in Cheap St, Sherborne. Does snyone know where on the the shop might have been located? Which number wd it be?
My father & mother Harold and Lily Plympton standing on the corner of Cheap Street and Long Street. My father worked for Lemons the tailors, following in the footsteps of my grandfather Charles Robert Plympton who lived in Wootton Grove. my grandfather used to play in the gardens when he was a child. His father was the police superintendent so he lived next door to the gardens between 1910 and 1920. The gardener was called Mr Judd , who lived in ludbourne road . My grand father described Mr judd as a very stern little man who maintained control over any unruly youngsters and quickly dispersed them . I presume that meant my grandfather was ...see more
Mary Dodge married Thomas Hayward 1808 in Sherborne.  Trying to find residential address at that time.  Might be Long Street. Thomas Hayward, son of Robert, said to have farmed in nearby Loders and had business in Sherborne as well.  Any info/photos welcome for family tree.
