Rendevous Restauranr
A Memory of Sandown.
I had some brill holidays in sandown, morning coffee at the Rendevous restaurant, well café in the high st, made friends with the son paul who was training to be a navigator in the merchant navy, met a couple of girls who came from Bexleyheath in London, they lived in Axminster Road, some memory that.
Pauls mum lived on the way to Bembridge, unfortunately his dad Eddie died, he was a cameraman for the Daily Sketch.
We stayed with a Mrs Carter near Station road, her daughter married and had her honeymoon in London staying with us.
Apparently the rendezvous was sold and Pauls mum opened a hotel in Shanklin.
We also visited Jimmy Letts who owned Bembridge Airport, he was related to Sinclairs the tobacco people, he took my mum for a spin in his aeroplane, she never forgot that.
Sandown was brilliant can still remember those sunny days.
Went back more than once my Boxer enjoyed the trips, happy days.
