Rickmansworth, High Street c.1950

More about this scene
In this view, the photographer looks up High Street from the west, the opposite direction to that in the two earlier views. The elaborate diagonally-set chimneys of the Edwardian Tudor-style shops on the left, with their applied timber-framing, can be seen in the distance in view 70498. Woolworth's has a plaque reset in the parapet recording the building as a gift of 'John Fotherley, Esq, Lord of the Manor of Rickmansworth, Anno Domini 1812'.
