My family holidayed on bute for years. Spent fair fortnight at arthur (robertson) slip in rowing boats. My brother would rescue people in rowing boats who didn't know how to row! Great days
My uncle, Jimmy, had a caravan berthed in McIntyres boat yard. I remember there was another caravan next to my uncles, the family I cannot remember their name, but they had two daughters who were called Iris and Ruby. The reason I remember their names is their dad named the small boat they had after them. I'm now 58 years old and I often think of Iris and Ruby. I have faint memories of Innellan during the war years. I cannot remember the year exactly, but I was evacuated with my mother during this period. Repeated trips to Dunoon and inevitably Innellan revived some memories. Are the shops that are on the main front the ones that we frequented then? I have memories of a shop window with a small clinker built rowboat that I loved looking at but could not afford.

Early 1960s - to present. I have this picture in my house because in the background on the hill are the tenement type flats I remember as a child. This flat saw 5 generations of holidays in the Port. I go back and visit every year and find it sad to see this building almost a ruin.
