If we look carefully at the old medieval bridge on the right, it is evident that the brickwork in the centre differs from the rest. In fact, the centre of the bridge was blown up during the Civil War by Royalists who were retreating from Worcester. Today it is used as a footpath, and most travellers use the modern bridge on the left.
