More about this scene
The historic Wharf, in regular use in the days when the Kennet & Avon Canal was a vital waterway, was home to Newbury's buses when this photograph was taken. I recall leaving my school cap on one of them one morning and racing back to get it! The bus station relocated to another site in Newbury some years ago and today the area on the right is a car park. The lovely old granary on the left is still made up of shops on the lower level. The Tourist Information Centre is also here.
