A hundred years ago, Huddersfield was a collection of villages - now Milnsbridge has been almost absorbed, and is on the outskirts. The town is packed with mills and machinery works. The tram reached here in 1883, and was the first public transport system. Trolleybuses took over in 1934. From 1939 the David Brown company manufactured farm tractors in the town. Prime Minister Harold Wilson was born here, and attended New Street Council School.

I was born in 1935 at 25, Pickford Street and lived at that address until I was married. I have so many memories of those years. My first is about New Street Primary School.
