Beeleigh was a house of Premonstratensians. It was founded in 1180 (replacing an earlier house at Parndon), though it became a private residence after the Dissolution. It was at this time, too, that the timbered and brick-nogged wing on the right was put up. The site was rather dilapidated until a major restoration in 1912.
