Horning, The Village 1902

More about this scene
This is a pretty scene with a handsome ash tree in the background, and two children in a quiet side street. Horning's legendary Benedictine abbey was destroyed by invaders, rebuilt in splendour by kings, and was not suppressed by Henry VIII. All this seems miles away from the activities on the Broad, which is just around the corner.
