More about this scene
Flookburgh is a charming and ancient market town between the Kent Estuary and Cartmel Sands. It was renowned for its cockle gatherers and fishing for flukes, or flat fish, in the estuary. This was still the main business activity in Flookburgh when this photograph was taken. In this view it is obvious that a photographer was a rare sight.
