More about this scene
The sale of livestock, including sheep, goats and pigs, took place here on market days up to the start of World War II. The courtyard entrance of the 17th-century Crown Hotel, seen on the left, is a reminder of its past, and prominent, role as a staging inn. Most of the buildings on the right are Georgian.
