The River Can, as seen from the rustic bridge, pursues a winding course. The distant buildings were part of the Cattle Market, which had occupied the site since 1880 - its place now taken, ironically, by Chelmsford's deeply unattractive covered market. Parkway now crosses this view where the river bends.
