More about this scene

In the post-war period the provision of Local Authority housing increased to meet the demands of a rising population. Here we see pairs of family homes with large front and back gardens built in the late 1950s. Beyond are bungalows for the elderly, built in 1961. The hedge against the road has now grown up, almost hiding the concrete footpath from view.
